The Chinese Society for Immunology (CSI) is a voluntary, academic, nonprofit, and non‑governmental organization that serves as a central pillar of China’s immunology community. With 12,313 members, CSI plays a pivotal role in fostering scientific exchange, advancing research, and supporting professional development across the field.

CSI traces its roots to the Chinese Committee for Immunology, founded in 1984—the same year it joined the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS). In 1992, CSI became a founding member of the Federation of Immunological Societies of Asia‑Oceania (FIMSA). Since 2016, the FIMSA central office has been co‑located with the CSI Secretariat in Beijing, led successively by Secretary General Professor Xuetao Cao (2016–2021) and Professor Bo Huang (2022–present).

CSI has consistently advanced immunological science through the establishment of 12 professional branch committees, 4 standing committees, and 7 academic journals. Among these, Cellular & Molecular Immunology (CMI) has gained international recognition, and the newly launched Immunity & Inflammation further strengthens CSI’s commitment to high‑quality academic dissemination.

The CSI Annual Meeting attracts more than 4,000 registered participants and nearly 100 sponsors each year, making it one of the most influential scientific gatherings in the immunology community. In 2019, CSI successfully hosted the 17th International Congress of Immunology (IUIS 2019) in Beijing, marking a milestone in China’s engagement with the global immunology community. To further promote international collaboration, CSI co‑organizes a series of global summits with leading sister societies, including the German Society for Immunology (DGfI), the Japanese Society for Immunology (JSI), the Korean Association of Immunologists (KAI), and the British Society for Immunology (BSI).
