Statement on Middle East

October 27, 2023

The IUIS Executive Committee is deeply distressed by the tragic events, including the loss of innocent lives and the suffering of civilians including children in Israel and Palestine since October 7, 2023. Our sympathies extend to all our colleagues in the Middle East and their families who are facing these challenges. Remembering how immunologists globally united during the COVID pandemic, relentlessly battling a deadly virus to save every life regardless of borders, it is deeply disheartening to see conflict overshadow scientists’ unified endeavors. We sincerely hope that the region’s leaders will soon bring peace and humanity to the Middle East.
