“First of all, I would like to thank FOCIS and IUIS for giving me the opportunity to participate in this recognized course and for supporting my travel expenses. Regarding the course, every PhD student must know that attending this course means growth in every sense, intellectual as well as personal. As I am an Immunology Teacher, I feel that this course helped me not only to gain more experience in my chosen professional field, but also to share my knowledge with my partners and students. Furthermore, it was a very rewarding feeling to attend classes given by very wellknown speakers in the field of Immunology. Last but not least, besides being didactic, lectures were really up to date.I would like to recommend that the course be carried out over 4 days since the talks were excellent and interesting but long, so at the end of the day it was hard to pay attention. In my opinion, it is very worthwhile attending the FOCIS Advanced Course of Basic and Clinical Immunology.

Tom Were, PhD, Immunology Unit, Department of Pathology, School of Medicine, Kenyatta University, Kenya, supported by IUIS Education Committee.

focis2012-2“The course and its content were excellent for me. I gained a lot through improving my knowledge on the current concepts in basic and clinical immunology as it relates to treatment of disease. The course material was very well presented and made easy by the faculty; this has enhanced my approach to literature search and improved my teaching of immunology to medical students at Kenyatta University.
I enjoyed the course throughout the duration save for being jet-lagged.The course content was consistent with my level of training and understanding. I particularly got interested in B cell immunology and have even incorporated the elements I learnt on BRegs into my research studies on the role of B cells in malaria.
A big thankyou for the opportunity. I certainly enjoyed the course and have recommended it to my colleagues. I will definitely use what I have learnt in reviewing the immunology curriculum for medical students at my institution, particularly in the area of clinical immunology and immunotherapy related to treatment of disease.
