- 43rd Annual Conference and the society – General body meeting of the Indian Immunology Society was held on February 16-19,2017 at the GITAM University, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
- Day of immunology was celebrated by seventeen institutions in different parts of India. Average attendance ranged from 100 to 300 participants, including children students, young researchers and upcoming faculty members. Themes revived around various aspects of translational immunology. The celebrations featured popular public talks, specialized talks by senior immunologists, presentations by young students, quiz competitions and media publicity.
- National workshop on “Advancement in Immunology”: under the aegis of the Indian Immunology Society, the Vallabhbhai Chest institute organized the National Workshop on “Advancement in Immunology” (Hands-on Training) on October 12th and 13th, 2017. Prof. Madhu Khanna, Department of Microbiology (Virology), VPCI was the Organizing Secretary of the workshop. The workshop brought together many eminent speakers to help students in exploring their research and experiment skill. The workshop focused on teaching cutting-edge techniques in research and clinical diagnostics, supported by theoretical classes followed by practical session of basic to advanced techniques including ELISPOT, Flow Cytometry, Stem cell culture etc. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. G.P. Talwar. The workshop had 50 participants, feedback from them was fabulous and indicated the need of many such hand on training programs.
- The annual meeting and the conference of the Indian Immunology Society: the Immunocon 2017, held on December 14-16 with the theme “Ïmmunology of infection and beyond”, was a great success. Over 300 Immunologists attended the event marked with senior, mid-career & young scientist awardees orations, guest lectures, special talks by established immunologists, poster and oral presentations by student scholars and upcoming researchers. The conferenece was organized by Dr. Sarat Dalai, Director of the Institute of Science, Nirma University, Ahmedabad, Gujrat.
- Focis associate member symposium IIS proposes to organize a half day associate member symposium during the annual meeting of focis at San Francisco in the year 2018.
