The Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) announces an international conference on “Global Transformations and Türkiye,” slated for April 18-20, 2024, in Istanbul. This conference aims to explore the profound global changes affecting Turkey, stemming from centuries of inter-continental exchanges, notably intensified in the last five hundred years and rapidly evolving in recent decades. The advancements in transportation, telecommunications, and technology have turned the world into a “global village,” reshaping international relations with emerging concepts like digital communication, artificial intelligence, cyber and human security, and sustainability. While these new paradigms dominate discussions, traditional issues such as war, migration, and energy security persist, influencing international relations. Situated at a crossroads of continents, Turkey is deeply impacted by these global shifts and endeavors to actively participate in them, experiencing both positive and negative consequences. The conference invites paper abstracts and panel proposals until February 26, 2024, with accepted full papers published by TÜBA. Key dates include proposal acceptance by March 11 and full paper submission by April 12, 2024. TÜBA will cover three nights of accommodation, while participants cover their international travel expenses. Details regarding accommodation and will be communicated upon proposal acceptance.
