Junior Community

The IUIS Junior Community (JC) aims to promote and connect Early Career Researchers working in the field of immunology or adjacent disciplines at the international level, specifically focusing on low-to-middle-income countries.

Together with the IUIS committees, the IUIS council, and the Executive Board, the IUIS Junior Community aims to achieve the following tasks and actions:

  1. Promote and connect Early Career Researchers (ECRs) at the international level through:
  • supporting the creation of junior national or regional societies with a specific focus on low-to middle-income countries
  • ensuring that IUIS’ activities meet the needs of ECRs by providing ECR representation in the IUIS council and committees
  • fostering the collaboration with ‘Frontiers in Immunology’
  • advertising relevant content on the website and social media accounts
  1. Enhance education opportunities and improve training environments for ECRs, including:
  • mentorship programs to connect experienced IUIS members with ECRs,
  • organization of various events, including (virtual & in-person) conferences, seminars, or workshops. To check the upcoming events, please click on this link.
  • fostering training events like summer/winter schools at the regional and international level
  • all of the above will be carried out with a particular focus on diversity, equity, and inclusivity (DEI) to specifically support traditionally underrepresented groups and women in science
  1. Support IUIS and its members in activities and events highlighting the field of Immunology, for example, by participating in the international “Day of Immunology” and other public education and outreach campaigns
