5th Congress of FIMSA

Wednesday 14th March 2012 at New Delhi, India

5th Congress of the Federation of Immunological Societies of Asia-Oceania

kaufmann2Dear Colleagues, Dear Friends,

The Federation of Immunological Societies of Asia-Oceania (FIMSA) will hold its 5th Congress from 14–17 March, 2012 in New Delhi, India on “Translational Immunology in Health and Disease”. FIMSA is one of the four regional federations of immunology that are all members of the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS). IUIS currently comprises 66 national member societies all over the world representing 10s of thousands of individual members. As President of the IUIS, I am proud and honored to participate in FIMSA’s next Congress, in New Delhi, and welcome all of you to join in this exciting endeavor. Immunology is a major topic of 21st century biomedicine. Better understanding of the immune mechanisms underlying infectious, malignant, allergic, autoimmune immunodeficiency and other diseases is an important goal which requires true collaborations between researchers in different disciplines, both in the public and private sectors, both from the north and the south of this globe. The 5th FIMSA Congress will not only be a wonderful meeting point for researchers interested in basic and clinical research alike, also it will also provide an excellent opportunity for making laypersons, the press, and politicians more aware of the critical importance of immunologic research. Finally, the FIMSA Congress will provide a meeting point to strengthen existing friendships and invite new ones. Knowing of India’s wonderful hospitality, I am convinced that this congress will not only be a scientific highlight but also provide an excellent opportunity for social activities in one of the liveliest cities in the world. I am looking forward to meeting you all at FIMSA’s 5th Congress in New Delhi, in March 2012.

Stefan H.E. Kaufmann
Director, Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology President,
