THE INAUGURAL YEAR SUPPORT WILL BE GIVEN TO PROPOSALS RELATED TO COVID-19
IUIS Committee on Gender Equality (GEC) is announcing a new travel grant: Travel for Expertise. Three to five grants will be awarded to applicants from developing countries to travel internationally to laboratories fighting COVID-19 to learn special techniques or use special instrumentations for their ongoing or soon to begin COVID-19 projects.
The grants will provide $2,000 for travel and $500 per week for living expenses for two weeks (with a possible third week if justified in the proposal). Eligible applicants are PhD students, postdoctoral fellows and clinical fellows involved or expected to be involved in COVID-19 research upon return to their institutions.
Applications are due by June 30, 2020. They should include:
- Cover letter
- Two-page description of the project for which additional expertise is needed
- Curriculum Vitae
- Letter from the supervisor of the home institution
- Letter from the head of the host lab agreeing to host and train the applicant
Examples of eligible projects include preclinical and clinical work on COVID-19 vaccines, development of immunological assays, understanding and targeting of inflammatory pathways, ageing and immunity, anti-viral immunity, immune modulation and other innovative immune approaches to understanding, diagnosing and treating COVID-19.
