The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB), in coordination with the Medical College of Wisconsin, the University of California San Francisco, AAAS, Science Careers, and with support from the Burroughs Welcome Fund, recently launched a new online tool to help young scientists plan their careers. The new tool, “myIDP,” allows early career scientists to establish their own individual development plans, “a step-by-step plan for reaching their career goals.”

Specifically, myIDP provides:

  • Exercises to help you examine your skills, interests, and values
  • A list of 20 scientific career paths with a prediction of which ones best fit your skills and interests
  • A tool for setting strategic goals for the coming year, with optional reminders to keep you on track
  • Articles and resources to guide you through the process

More information is available at myidp.sciencecareers.org
